Miss Universe 2011 winner

Well, the winner of the Miss Universe 2011 is Ms. Angola – Leila Lopes. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity to watch the pageant show last night as I don’t have cable tv. I just checked out the Twitter and Facebook. Gladly, my friends on Facebook posted the progress and results of the said show. To be quite frank, I thought Ms. Philippines would win because she’s the only one that spoke English during the question and answer portion. I guess her answer wasn’t good enough for the judges. Anyhow, I think beauty pageant is just a pure luck. Of course, it depends on the judges. Well, no need to argue about this. It’s already done! Congrats to the new Miss Universe!
Miss Universe 2011
I don’t know if I am going to watch the “Miss Universe 2011″ tonight. I don’t have a cable tv. I only have a digital antenna. I will check it out online to see if I can watch it on live streaming. To be honest I am into beauty pageant shows anymore. I used to watch it when I was younger but things have changed, I am not so into it now. My dad is into beauty pageant which I don’t really know why. It’s kind of questionable why he likes this kind of show. Anyhow, I will just probably check out Twitter and Facebook for the results later.
Earthquake hit the east coast today
I was kind of scared to hear the news about the earthquake that hit the east coast today. The quake was about 5 something magnitude. I remember last year when a strong quake hit in the Southern California on Easter Day. I was in the front of the computer at that time and I noticed our house was shaking so I looked up outside and I saw parked cars rolling back and forth. So, I immediately told my husband about the quake as I hurriedly went outside for safety. While I was on the ground, I prayed to God that it would stop. It felt like forever. The quake lasted for about almost a minute. That was the longest earthquake I’ve ever experienced.
How to reduce calories in diet
There are ways to reduce calories. Take these steps to losing weight. First, include more vegetables in your diet. I really love vegetables and they more tasty than meat. Vegetables can be boring sometimes but you’ll get used to it. When you eat more raw vegetables, the fewer calories you’ll get. Second, avoid snacks in between meals, especially junk foods. When you eat junk foods be sure to read the Nutritional facts– avoid high saturated fats, sodium and cholesterol. Those are bad for you. It is funny how my husband always says that those are “junk, crap and garbage”. Third, dairy products– always look for low fat and non-fat ones and as much as possible, get the organic kind.
Being a mom
I just found out that one of my online friends gave birth to a baby girl last Saturday. I am really happy for her as everything went fine. I just sent a message through Facebook. She still feels weak and trying to recuperate from epidural headaches. Giving birth is risky. Mothers risk their lives for their kids. I consider mothers as heroes. I am not being biased since I am a mom. But considering what I had been throughout the pregnancy and labor. And now, I am taking care of my baby like 24 hours. Being a mother is not that easy. It is very challenging but it’s really worth it.
August
Today is the 2st day of August. Why August is the 8th month of the year? It is the 8th month of the Gregorian calendar. In Astrology, August begins with the sun in the sign of Leo and ends in the sign of Virgo. This month was originally named “Sextilis” in Latin because it was in the first place, the sixth month in the ancient Roman calendar in which started with March. Then it later became the eighth month when January and February were added to the beginning of the year. August was renamed in honor of Augustus. Actually, August originally had 29 days in the Roman calendar. Augustus took two days from February and added it to August when Sextilis was renamed in his honor.
