Peppers are hot
I was wondering why chili peppers are hot. Do you wonder too? Well, I found the answer to this. The new research study shows that it has something to do with insects and microbes. Some peppers grow that heat to fight a seed-eating fungus. These fungi eat down the seeds. The scientists noticed that plants in areas with more of the seed-destroying fungus produced more capsaicin—it is a substance that gives the peppers their heat. That is very interesting! Actually, chili peppers are good. It boosts our immune system!

Tea
Do you love tea? I love tea especially flavored fruits. I really like the celestial seasonings brand. It is 100% natural. And it is more flavorful than other brands. Study shows that tea contains flavonoid compounds that lower the risk of developing cancer especially ovarian cancer. It protects the cell from DNA damage and helps normalize cell growth. Kaempferol, a flavonoid found in tea, however, can also be found in broccoli, kale and spinach and luteolin, which are provided by peppers, carrots, cabbage and celery, were both recognized as cancer protective. The more vegetables we eat, the less risk we are prone to cancer or diseases. Therefore, it is highly recommended to include a wide variety of vegetables and fruits in our diet; exercising regularly and controlling weight.

Lead in balsamic vinegar
I just went to the store other to get some juice and some snacks. I went to the vinegar section to check some balsamic vinegar. I was shocked to see a warning sign says, “This product contains lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm” in fine print. The warning is under Proposition 65 here in California. All balsamic and red wine vinegars come out to have trace of amount of lead. According to studies, Most balsamic and red wine vinegars have lead levels equal to or less than 34 parts per million. An average person would need to consume 1 to 2 cups of balsamic or red wine vinegar per day to reach the Proposition 65 lead level minimum threshold, which includes a 1000-fold safety margin.
Lead can damage people’s neurological systems, most especially children. Lead is a carcinogen. It may also be link to cardiovascular, kidney and immune system effects. Lead is not only found in vinegar as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that North Americans consume 50 micrograms of lead each day through food, beverages and dust. Vinegars are acidic and make the metal fully soluble so it’s more easily absorbed into the bloodstream. Click here for some balsamic and red vinegar that do not violate California’s proposition 65 limits for lead.
