Why Halloween is signified by Pumpkins, why not some other vegetables? Is it because we can carve different faces in pumpkins?
Halloween Pumpkins originated from the Celts in Europe long time ago. They would carry a lantern when they walked on the eve of October 31. These lanterns were carved out of big turnips and the lights were believed to keep the evil spirits away. The children would carve faces in the turnips in which they called it “jack-o-lanterns. And when the early settlers came to America they found the big round orange pumpkin. And they thought it is much bigger and colorful than turnips, so they made great “jack-o-lanterns” out of pumpkins, which eventually replaced the turnip. And now, we have pumpkins for Halloween.
As the settlers spread across America they took their Halloween celebrations with them. The custom of the “jack-o-lantern” would travel with them. Eventually the Pumpkin would become the most widely recognized symbol of the Halloween holiday.
Back surgeon
I noticed that being a medical doctor is very overwhelming, most especially if you are a surgeon. I have a friend who is a back surgeon. He works in one of the best hospitals here in Southern California. Apparently, he makes pretty decent money but he’s not always home. He’s always on-call to do laser spine surgery. And every time me and my husband see him at the church, he always looks sleepy and tired. Even though his work is exhausting, he loves his profession as he is able to help people. That’s the nice thing about it. I guess, when you love your job, you won’t mind how exhausting it is. I don’t know if I could do this kind of profession. Well, I can easily say that I can’t do this kind of job but if I was given the opportunity to go to medical school, I’d probably take it.
Trick or treating
Today is the Halloween. I don’t have any plans of trick or treating tonight. I will just stay at home and give out some candies to the kids. I have a big bowl of candies here which I got from Walmart the other day.It’s the Halloween of my baby boy but I didn’t get any suit or costume. I thought it’d be a waste of money since he’s just going to wear it once and outgrow it soon. For me, it won’t make sense at all. And besides, he’s not going to appreciate it because he’s just 8 months old. Maybe he’ll appreciate it next year. Well, let’s see about that.
Home projects
Home projects are never ending. There’s always a new thing to do. I don’t really have to necessarily do them except for very important stuff, like plumbing or house repair. I want to change our furniture specifically our couch next year. I would like to get rustic log furniture. I really like the look of it. Don’t you think they’re neat? But first, I want to ask my other half about this idea. I hope he’ll approve it. I can’t really decide on my own as I don’t want any arguments. Anyhow, I’m excited about this whole idea. In fact, I just looked up some rustic log furniture online just to get ideas. Another thing that I would also want to do is get new window treatment next year.

Long lost friends
It’s amazing how social networking sites help us find our friends from around the world. I am thankful that I was able to locate and find my long lost friend through those sites. I was surprised to find out one of my friends who lives now in Melbourne, Astraulia. It’s been a long, long time since we talked and hang out. I think that was in college, if I wasn’t wrong.
So, we now talk and share latest updates about our lives online. She told me that she is currently working in a cleaning business in Melbourne. She’s happy with her job now because she makes decent money with the company. She said she’s never regretted working in the cleaning business melbourne. Well, I’m happy for her. I wish we could see other each other in person. It seems impossible because she lives on the other side of the planet. Anyhow, I’m still glad that we are able to communicate through online.
Oh boy, if there was no internet, I don’t know if I would be able to find my long lost friends. Don’t you agree with me?
