Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

What is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome? Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or CTS is a condition in which the median nerve is compressed at the wrist, leading to pain and muscle weakness in the forearm and hand. This condition is very common to typist, secretaries, stenographers, cashiers, tellers and the like. The median nerve controls sensations to the palm side of the thumb and finger. The carpal tunnel is a narrow, rigid tube of ligament and bones at the base of the hand that holds the median nerve and tendons.

The common symptoms of CTS are:

  • Burning sensation and tingling feeling of the palm and fingers
  • Loss of hand grip
  • Numbness of hands
  • Cold hands and forearms hand
  • Clumsiness in hands
  • Aching shoulder and neck
