Bhumibol Adulyadej, with fortune estimated at $35 billion, is the world’s richest monarch while oil-rich Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi is at No. 2, Forbes magazine with estimated fortune of $23 billion. The King is 80 and for 62 years on the throne the world’s longest-serving head of state and has a vast landholdings which includes 3,493 acres in Bangkok. Many of the royals inherited their riches, and share it with extended families. They are responsible on their own wealth so they can pass it to the next generations.
