The four tastes are sweet, sour, salty and bitter. And the tongue’s sixthsensation is taste calcium. It has been discovered in mice. Lately scientists have discovered tongue sensations for savory or umami. They explained that the human palate could detect calcium- the mineral. “What does the mineral taste like?”. Calcium tastes bitter and a bit sour as they said. But there are definite receptors for calcium, not just bitter or sour. However, the discovery is still a mystery to humans. Scientists are still going to study further about this discovery if humans do actually have taste sensations for calcium.
